Can’t remember a time I wasn’t drawing

Bailey Gumienny has been exhibiting locally in the Tampa Bay area and actively pursuing her painting practice since late 2016. After getting hired at Soft Water Studios as a Gallery assistant in January 2018 and graduating from USFSP later that same year, she has been progressively growing as an artist and an arts professional in the St. Pete community.

Currently, Bailey is looking to expand her studio practice with a residency program to connect with other emerging artists and continue to push the boundaries of her creativity and painting skills.

Bailey Gumienny’s dynamic oil paintings explore moments of drama and confrontation through vulnerable portraits and figures. While occupying moody, surreal spaces, the figures challenge and disorient the viewer with their mystery and self-fulfilling authority. Traversing the sex/death/rebirth cycle, her paintings always maintain an elemental and dreamlike connection to the natural world whether it be through the moon, a flame, or even a bee.

Her interests include the magic of nature, myths and archetypes, moody hues, power dynamics, and metamorphosis.
